We can see which words
earned the money

The ads we build carry five primary texts and five headlines. Meta rotates them and records the result of each one separately. Ads Manager does not display that breakdown on screen, so it looks like the data is not there. It is, and we pull it directly. Here is one ad as a worked example.

The ad

12 August 2026 to 10 September 2026. One video, five primary texts, five headlines, running as a single ad.

By primary text

The paragraph above the video. Meta gave each of the five a share of delivery, then leaned into what worked. Delivery share is each line's share of the impressions Meta attributes at text level, not a budget we set by hand.

What this ad tells us

1.8x

The busiest line was not the best line

"Once a year, we hold our Summer Sale." took the most delivery at £550 and returned 4.58x. "Where would a little more softness settle in your home?" ran on £269 and returned 8.47x, 1.8 times the return on a fraction of the money.

9.5x

The strongest headline is the quietest one

"Our One Sale of the Year" ran on just £106 and brought back £1,005 from 6 orders. On one headline we would most likely never have written it, and would never have known.

5

Five options cost nothing extra

The five primaries and five headlines live inside one ad on one budget. There is no extra spend, no split test to manage, and no traffic wasted. The only cost is writing them.

Where the picture is incomplete

Two honest limits, so the numbers above are read for what they are.

Headline data covers less than primary text

Primary text is attributed across 87% of this ad's impressions. Headlines only reach 35%, because Reels and Stories placements do not display a headline at all. Headline results are a strong steer, not a complete account of the spend.

We cannot pair a headline with a primary

Meta reports the two separately and will not cross them. We can say which primary worked and which headline worked. We cannot say which combination of the two worked best.

The blind spot worth fixing

Not every ad in the account is built this way, and the ones that are not go dark.

Ad 221 | Video | Sheepskin Rugs | Cream Bestseller carries only 2 primary texts and 2 headlines. In the same 30 days it spent £1,165 and returned £10,246 at 8.79x, so it is working hard. Ask Meta which of its two lines did that, and it returns nothing at all.

That is not a one-off. Across every ad in the account spending over £20 in the period, 8 carry only two text options and not one of them reports a thing, covering £2,140 of spend we cannot read at text level. Of the 8 ads built with three or more, 7 report in full. Meta appears not to run its text rotation at all on a two-option ad. It simply picks one and serves it.

Recommendation

Keep five primary texts and five headlines on every ad, including the lead generation ads. Narrowing to one headline does not simplify the reporting, it removes the mechanism that finds the winner and leaves us with no text-level data to read at all.

The writing is already done as part of each round, so the cost of running five is zero. What we get back is a ranked list of which sentences earn money, on every ad, every month, which is what feeds the next round of copy.
